A Love Letter to Myself

 

 

Dear Angelique,

I see you. I see how much you’ve grown, how many times you’ve chosen to rise when it would have been easier to stay where you were. I see the way you show up, even when you’re tired, even when those gremlins with their doubts creep in. I see your strength, your resilience,  and your heart.  I want you to know—I love you.

I love the way you seek adventure, not just on the trail but in life. I love your curiosity, your willingness to explore new things, learn new things, and embrace the unknown, even when it feels uncomfortable. I love that you’re learning to listen to your body, to your intuition, to the quiet knowing inside you that has always been there.

I know there have been times when you’ve been too hard on yourself, expecting perfection, carrying weight that was never yours to hold. But today, I want you to hear this: 

YOU.  ARE.  ENOUGH!

Exactly as you are, in THIS moment. You don’t have to earn your rest. You don’t have to prove your worth. You are already whole.

I promise to love you better!  To offer myself the same kindness I give so freely to others. To honor my needs, to set boundaries that protect my energy, to move my body in ways that feel good, to celebrate the person I am, not just the person I’m becoming.

I promise to choose joy, not just in the big moments but in the quiet ones.  To pause, to breathe, to soak in the beauty around me. I promise to step into the unknowing, to say yes to the things that light me up and no to the things that don’t. I promise to be patient with myself, to trust that I am always growing, always evolving, always learning.

Because the longest relationship I will ever have, is the one I have with myself.. and I want it to be built on love.

How Can You Step Into a Deeper Relationship with Yourself?

 

Writing this letter made me reflect on how often we pour love into others but forget to pour it into ourselves. But what if we changed that? What if you treated yourselves like your own best friend, your own greatest love?

Here are a few ways you can deepen your relationship with you—not just on Valentine’s Day, but every single day:

  1. Speak to Yourself with Love:  Notice the way you talk to yourself. Would you speak to a friend that way? Replace criticism with encouragement. Replace judgment with kindness. Choose words that lift you up.
  2. Move in a Way That Feels Good:  Movement is an act of self-love. Hike, stretch, dance, breathe—move because it brings you joy, not because you should.
  3. Set Boundaries That Honor Your Needs:  Loving yourself means knowing what drains you and what fuels you. Give yourself permission to say no without guilt and yes without fear.
  4. Give Yourself the Gift of Presence:  Put your phone down. Take a deep breath. Feel the earth beneath your feet. Notice the beauty around you. The present moment is where love truly lives.
  5. Celebrate Yourself Daily:  You don’t have to wait for a milestone to acknowledge your worth. Celebrate the small wins. Give yourself credit. You are doing better than you think.
  6. Step Into Adventure:  Love yourself enough to step outside your comfort zone. Try something new, explore... Say YES to experiences that make you feel alive.
  7. Write Your Own Love Letter:  Take a few moments to write yourself a letter. Acknowledge your strength, your journey, your heart. Read it whenever you need a reminder of how deeply you are loved.

The Greatest Love Story Begins With You!

This Valentine’s season, let’s redefine love. Let’s make it about the way we treat ourselves—with kindness, patience, joy, and care.

You are worthy of deep, unconditional love—especially from yourself!
